Troubleshooting guide

Common Speaker & Audio Board problems

The 3 failures our Durban technicians meet most often — what you'll see, why it happens, and how we fix it properly.

Every fault below comes from real call-outs across Durban and surrounding areas. Some have a quick check you can try yourself before booking anyone — where that's true, we say so. When a visit is needed, the diagnosis is done with a signal meter, quoted before work starts, and covered by our 12-month workmanship warranty. New to this part? Start with the speaker & audio board component guide.

1. No sound at all

What you'll see: The picture is perfect but there is no sound from the TV's internal speakers on any source or channel.

Why it happens: A failed internal speaker, a disconnected speaker cable, a blown audio amplifier stage, or (worth checking first) the audio output set to an external device that isn't connected.

How we fix it: We check settings and connections first — the free fix — then test speakers and the amplifier stage individually and replace only what has actually failed.

2. Crackling or distorted sound

What you'll see: Audio plays but crackles, distorts at higher volumes, or cuts out intermittently.

Why it happens: A failing speaker cone, a loose speaker connector, or a degraded amplifier stage.

How we fix it: We isolate the fault to a specific speaker or the amplifier and replace the failed part — often one of the more affordable TV repairs.

3. Sound cuts out or fades

What you'll see: Audio starts normally then fades to silence, or cuts in and out unpredictably.

Why it happens: A loose internal connector, a failing amplifier component under thermal stress, or a firmware audio-processing fault.

How we fix it: We reseat and test connections under sustained use to catch intermittent faults, then repair the confirmed cause.

Symptom doesn't match any of these?

Faults overlap — a "speaker & audio board problem" is sometimes another link in the chain wearing a disguise. Describe what your system is doing on 069 423 8290 (or WhatsApp a photo of the error screen) and we'll tell you which component it actually sounds like, free, before anything is booked.
