The T-Con (timing controller) board sits between the mainboard and the panel, converting the processed video signal into the exact timing and voltage sequence the panel's rows and columns need to display an image. It is a small board doing a precise job — and when it fails, the symptoms can look confusingly similar to a panel fault, which is exactly why it gets checked before any panel is condemned.
T-Con faults are one of the most common "looks expensive, isn't" repairs in TV servicing: a board that costs a fraction of a panel can produce lines, flickering, a scrambled image or total blankness — symptoms an inexperienced eye might price as a full panel replacement.
